Metre Monday – “The Seasons”

20 Aug

The blaze of summer splendour,

The twilight soft and tender,

These facets sweet stay ever fleet:

All seasons pass away.

In autumn, crisp, eclectic,

The trees wax pyrotechnic.

Those colours show forthcoming snow.

All seasons pass away.

Riming with icy splinter,

Comes blanket death of winter.

That bitter cold is timeless old

All seasons pass away.

And spring sees lifeblood blooming,

The ageless dance resuming.

The cycle true begins anew,

All seasons pass away.

When tribulations bore us,

And trials are laid before us,

Our world of ills is turning still;

All seasons pass away.
