Tiny Tuesday – “Deus Ex Chronomica”

The sarcophagus smiled at the doctor. He reached backward for the painter’s brush, and snapped his fingers impatiently when it didn’t hit his hand. “René…?”

René couldn’t answer his father. He pointed, and his mouth moved but no sound came out.

The pharaoh’s face fell backward, and a slurry of black shining insects poured forth to engulf the archaeologists. They recoiled, and in a flash the scarabs stopped to hang motionless in midair. The air glowed blue. The time-traveller grinned.

Attention, mes amis,” he said, leaping from his gleaming craft. He extended a hand. “Ol’ Tut can get a mite testy.”
